Participating in the fifth inter-municipal environmental fair
On Wednesday, December 11, we attended the fifth intermunicipal environmental fair organized by the Intermunicipal Environmental Board of the South Coast (JICOSUR). This time, the fair was held in the community/municipality of Cuautitlán de García Barragán, with the participation of local producers and different communities from the six municipalities that make up the Board (La Huerta, Tomatlán, Villa Purificación, Cihuatlán, Cuautitlán de G. B., and Casimiro Castillo). The range of products and services on offer was very diverse (honey, vegetables, cookies, bread, pipian, cajeta, coffee, etc.); and the Sierra de Manantlan RB (CONANP), CONAFOR, Fundación Careyes, Universidad de Guadalajara (CUC SUR) and companies such as Sistema.bio (manure-based gas production) also participated by providing information and entertainment. It is important to highlight the participation of the staff of the La Huerta intermunicipal forest nursery, who brought trees to give away to the public. As Sierra a Mar, we provided information on the projects we are carrying out in terrestrial, lagoon, and marine ecosystems, and we gave away seeds of the tampicirán tree (Dalbergia granadillo), which is in danger of extinction. The event was inaugurated by the municipal president of Cuautitlán de García Barragán, Mrs. María del Rosario Delgado, accompanied by her team and the JICOSUR team.
